The German Landsknechts were mercenary soldiers primarily made up of pikemen and supporting troops such as Arquebusiers and Doppelsöldners, the brave men who fought with swords in the front rank of the pike formation. They modelled themselves after the famous Swiss Mercenaries and eventually surpassed them in military success and prowess. We have presented them here in a large pike block including their famous commander Georg von Frundsberg. Georg von Frundsberg won his most famous victory at the Battle of Pavia in 1525 where despite being heavily outnumbered, he was able to defeat the French and capture their King Francis I. We also have two mounted standard bearers carrying the von Frundsberg family colors and the colors of the Holy Roman Empire, for whom the Landsknechts fought at Pavia. This wonderful series of figures are extremely colorful and really come alive when setup in a large display and we sincerely hope you enjoy them.
