We are very pleased to present the latest release in our Age of the Samurai product range, SAM021-SAM026 Mounted Takeda Samurai charging at Nagashino in 1575. It's been about two years since we've done a release for this range and we've had customers eagerly anticipating these figures for quite some time, so we're please to announce that they are now available for pre-order. These figures continue our coverage of the Battle of Nagashino in 1575 where these mounted Samurai warriors charged the barricades in what turned out to be one of the pivotal battles ushering in the age of gun powder. These stunning figures have all of the fine details you expect on a First Legion figure such as our horses standing only on a single leg, photo etched sword blades, and intricate painting and of course our world class figure sculpting. And we promise it won't be another two years before our next release for the range! In fact, we hope to have another release done right around the end of this year, so stay tuned.... These figures will be shipping to customers and dealers worldwide in late June.

There has been a lot of speculation lately that we might start a range for the Western Front.   Well, that may or may not be so, but we are certainly moving full speed ahead on our Stalingrad range one way or another!!!  We are very pleased to present the latest releases for our marquis eastern front WWII range, the Battle of Stalingrad.    Over the past two years the questions we've been asked most about this range are "when will you make snipers?", "when will you make a T-34?", and "when will you make some casualties?"  Well, with this month's latest series of releases, GERSTAL043-046 and RUSSTAL016-RUSSTAL019 we'll have finally addressed all of these requests.   So without further adieu, we give your our renditions of the iconic T-34 (appropriately the STZ version!) and German and Russian Casualty sets.   We've also tossed in a German 80mm Mortar Team and Feldwebel directing fire and our first personality figure for the range, General Paulus, for good measure.  Enjoy!

In addition to all of the new pre-orders, there is one more piece of very exciting news that we wanted to make sure we got out before the weekend started.   First Legion is very pleased to announce that we have added a selection of North American Retailers to stock and resell our products!   Up to this point, as most of you know, we have maintained a direct sales only distribution model in North America complemented by George from Minuteman Toy Soldiers representing our brand at trade shows.   We have now changed this model and effective immediately our figures will be available from the following North American Authorized Dealers:

USA:  Alsand's Toy Soldiers Plus, Gettysburg Miniature Soldiers, Hobby Bunker, Le Petit Soldat, Minuteman Toy Soldiers, Roy Easton Military Miniatures, Sierra Toy Soldier, Stan Clark Military Books, Ted Toy Miniatures, Treefrog Treasures, and Troops of Time.

Canada: Maitland Toy Soldier Shoppe

Full contact information for each of these companies can be found on our dealers page.

These dealers have already placed their initial stock orders and product should be reaching them next week.   So if one of the above dealers is someone you've worked with in the past, you now have the option to purchase our figures directly from them at their shops or mail order.   Even if you don't have a relationship with any of these folks, they are a strong group of dealers and you should feel free to give any of them a try as we are confident that they will represent our brand with the utmost professionalism and high standards of service that we  here at First Legion have always tried to maintain.   We will still be selling our products direct as well, so nothing changes for those of you who prefer to continue purchasing our products directly from us.

We will expand upon the elements that went into this decision and what it means for us a company in our upcoming newsletter which will go out in a day or two.   However, we did want to take a moment to say a very big thank you to one Mr. George Guerriero of Minuteman Toy Soldiers.  George has been with us literally since day one as our trade show dealer and long time friend.   Those of you who have had the pleasure to have dealings with George know full well that he is a tireless worker and extremely well thought of in this industry as a leading dealer.   I still remember when I first called him about five or so years ago and told him I wanteed to start a toy soldier company and that we were going to make figures the likes of which the market hadn't seen.  He was doubtful of course having heard it all before I'm sure, but he volunteered his services anyway to help us promote our brand at the shows, entering into a very unique relationship with us.  As a mail order direct sales company only, his role in putting our figures in front of collectors all over the USA was extremely important for us.  In the four years since he made that fateful decision both of our companies have grown tremendously and he has no doubt played a part in in the success that we now enjoy as one of the world's leading figure companies.  So if you read this George, thanks my friend.  And just so there is no confusion, this is in no way a farewell to George.  On the contrary, George will still be stocking our figures as a dealer with the added benefit that he will not only still be representing us a the shows, but selling mail order now as well.   So his role with us has in fact expanded and we know he will continue to do well with our products.

Enjoy the weekend everyone, our newsletter is not far off!

We are extremely happy to finally start the pre-order of ACW023-ACW037 Buford's 8th Illinois Cavalry at Gettysburg!!!   We've presented them here in a firing or skirmish line where they will once again due their duty and delay the Confederate advance giving time for John Reynolds to come up with his corps.    Speaking of General Buford and General Reynolds, please visit our workbench to take a look at ACW039 and ACW040 which are of course Buford and Reynolds and will be coming quite soon.  For now though, you have the Union Cavalry to delay the Confederate advance and more figuers will be coming soon!   These will be shiping late August 2011, we sincerely hope you find them worth the wait!!!

We are very pleased to announce the latest releases for our WWII: The Battle of Stalingrad figure range.   For the first time, we've taken the series to the realm of the non-combat and added VEH006 Opel Blitz Truck as well as a supplies accessory set to complement it along with 2 sets of figures loading or unloading those supplies.  In addition, we've added 4 different passenger figures which work perfectly well as both passengers for the Opel Blitz, as additional tank riders for our tanks, or even just sitting on the supply crates.    These new figures will be expanded upon to allow for extremely detailed non-combat displays in and around the environs of Stalingrad!   Thes will be shiping late August 2011.

We are very pleased to present the first release of our coverage of both a new nationality and a new Napoleonic Battle, Aspern Essling!!!  Of course, this means the Austrians and we have started off with a very colorful release in the form of the Grenadier Companies of the 2nd Hungarian Line Regiment converged into the Hahn Grenadier Battalion.  Though designed for  Apern Essling, the figures fit perfectly into any 1809 or later battle which the Austrians took the field. So use them for Wagram, Dresden, Leipzig, Raab, or any other of the many Napoleonic battles in which the Austrians took part!   The addition of these and forthcoming Austrian and troops really opens up a whole new array of display possibilities and will surely make an excellent, and much needed, addition to any serious Napoleonic toy soldier collection!  These figures will be shipping late August 2011.

We are very pleased to announce the latest additions to our WWII: The Battle of Stalingrad figure range in the form of GERSTAL021 sFH 18 150mm Howitzer with Limber and 5 Crew and GERSTAL022 German Hauptmann in Fur Line Russian Greatcoat!   Our first "big gun", the sFH 18 is the perfect complement to set GERSTAL020 German Signals Artillery Observation Team.   This piece is equally at home in the stalingrad suburbs shelling the city center as part of an artillery barrage or even within the rubble of the city itself brought up in a direct fire support role to reduce a pesky Russian stronghold to rubble.  Even better, the opening and closing gun trails and included limber allow the gun to be displayed ready to fire or fully limbered up to be towed by a future towing vehicle.  And lets not forget GERSTAL022 German Hauptmann.   He looks every bit the part of the seasoned veteran of the Eastern Front with his appropriated equipment and is ready to lead your German troops into battle! These figures will be shipping to customers late December 2010!

We are very pleased to announce the pre-order for the second half of the French Line infantry restock including four new figure codes.  This brings the total to 39 different figures making up the First Legion French Line infantry offering!  No other company provides such a variety of figures allowing for the most realistic diplays of a full battalions of Napoleonic figures including center company and elite companies!   This release includes the "Terrible" 57th Line infantry charging the Fleches at Bordino, the Voltigeurs of the 85th Line Infantry skirmishing in support, and the grenadier and voltigeurs of the 61st Line advancing in formation.  We have added four new figures to this relase that compliment the original release perfectly - a march attack voltigeur in full dress, a march attack grenadier in campaign dress, and 2 new head variants of our Charging fusilier of the 57th Line.  This latter figure is a favorite sculpt amongst our customers, however, with the original barehead it wasn't very suitable for multiples.  We have addressed that now by adding full dress shako and forage cap variants allowing you to create a full charing display of French Line infantry!  This is the final production run of these figures and then they are being retired, so if you missed them the first time around or you want to bulk up your French forces, now is certainly the time to do so!  These figures will be shipping to customers in mid-November 2010.  Enjoy!

Due to popular demand and repeated requests, we have finally restocked the French Line Infantry!   We decided to divide the restock into 2 releases as with the 8 new figure codes, there are 38 total different French Line infantry.   Though we had initially wanted to retire these figures, many of our new customers never got a chance to order them due to our producing them in relatively small numbers and their selling out so quickly.  So not only did we restock them at the request of our customers, but we also created 4 new variants of march attack as many customers wanted full march attack formations and didn't like having to repeat NAP0035 and NAP0038 over and over agian.   We tried hard to keep the pricing as close to the original pricing as when we produced them two years ago, but given our costs and current retail pricing of our figures, we had to add $5 to the price of each figure.  However, at $39.95 we hope you will agree that these figures are about as good as bargain as you can find in the toy soldier world!   If you never got a chance to pick these figures up or if you want to add to your ranks, we suggest you do so ASAP as nearly half of the restocked figures are already spoken for by collectors around the world.   This is the final production run of these figures as they are being retired.   They will be shipping to customers in mid-September 2010, in only a few short weeks.   Next month, we'll pre-order the restock of codes NAP0045-NAP0060 plus four additional figure codes and then they too will be gone forever.

First Legion is pleased to present the first pre-order of our latest figure range, The Crusades!!!  We've long been requested by our customers to produce a range of figures based on medieval knights and it should come as no surprise to those familiar with our 40mm Crusades range, that we would eventually produce a Crusades range in 54mm.    The first release for this new range consists of 6 figures and is just a taste of things to come in 2010.    With unmatched sculpting and painting quality, First Legion is again raising the bar on what can be created as affordable toy soldiers or collectors figures.  These sets will be shipping to customers woldwide in early to mid September 2010.  We certainly hope you enjoy the figures!

We are so pleased to announce the start of the pre-order of our long awaited 92nd Gordon Highlander regiment.   The Gordon Highlanders fought bravely and effectively at both Quatre Bras and Waterloo and these figures can be used for either battle or even others overthe course of the Napoleonic Wars.  We have chosen to do the regiment standing waiting as this is a pose that we have yet to explore across our various ranges and the simple fact is that the majority of time spent on the Napoleonic battlefield was spent in such a formation.  As a tradeoff to this and keep things interesting, we have tried out some new sculpting approaches in that we've done the figures with various body types to provide a realistic look to your Highlander battle lines.  These sets will be shipping to customers woldwide in mid-June 2010.  We sincerely hope you enjoy them!

The artillery of both sides played a crucial role in determining the outcome of the Battle of Stalingrad.   Because of the close in nature of the fighting and the short sight lines of the urban battlefield, artillery observers often found themselves in extremely close proximity to the enemy and casualties among observers were high.   They were prized targets for enemy snipers.  First Legion represents this divisional level observation team lead by an officer with scissor scope passing targets to his subordinates to radio back to supporting artillery batteries.  Presented here with the world class sculpting and painting that you've come to expect from First Legion, GERSTAL020 German Signals Observation Team will make an excellent addition to any serious WWII toy soldier collection!   This set will be shipping to customers woldwide in the first half of May 2010.  We sincerely hope you enjoy it!

While some move east, we're moving west!  We are pleased to announce our latest sub range to our WWII: The Arms and Armies of the Second World War - Das Deutsche Afrika Korps!  The coloring of the German Afrika Corps has always been a favorite of ours so in discussing where to venture off to next for our critically acclaimed WWII figure range, we decided that the German Army in Africa was something we definitely wanted to devote some attention to.  We aren't going to discuss too much at this point the direction that we're taking this range, but are very pleased with how our first set, DAK001 SdKfz 232 8 Rad Schwerer Panzerspähwagen came out, so expect to see other figures and vehicles added over time.   This set will be shipping to customers woldwide in the first half of May 2010.  We sincerely hope you enjoy it!

In addition to the DAK 232, we're also very pleased to begin the pre-order of our latest Stalingrad figure sets.  This time around we're adding some much needed Anti-Tank firepower to the beleaugured Russian Army.   RUSSTAL010 ATR team is on the move to setup for a flank shot on approaching German armor while RUSSTAL011 is laying concealed in heavy rubble with the gunner taking aim as his assistant prepares another round for him.   These two sets will be shipping in the first half of May 2010.   We sincerely hope you enjoy them!
